"Trust me, I'm a doctor!"
The medical arts take a patience and dedication few can muster. Doctors are used to working under pressure, their skill with medicine and intense focus all that keeps their patients from death. Where technology provides the first step, magic can provide the second, helping patients heal quickly. Medical oaths don't prevent them from defending themselves, and their work means they're usually not afraid of getting their hands dirty with someone else's blood. A variety of medical schools all across the planets teach the arts, although many learn only on the field - and prefer not to share that information with their patients. There's always work for a doctor, on any ship, planet, or station.
